I am an aerodynamicist, designer engineer and inventor from Ankara, Turkey. I studied Aerospace Engineering at UCLA and worked on electric vehicles’ aerodynamic optimization for 4 years at Canoo in Los Angeles. I recently graduated from the Innovation Design Engineering double master’s course at Imperial College London and Royal College of Art with a distinction.
While aerodynamics might seem very math-heavy, I believe that it is the branch that is closest to being a form of art. There are countless ways of optimizing a surface geometry and one needs to have creativity as well as an aesthetic taste to match the design language of the concept. I also believe that there might be a link between the math behind curves and aesthetic design, like in the case of the Jaguar E-type. E-Type’s relatively unknown designer and engineer, Malcolm Sayer, is my greatest source of inspiration for this extremely niche field of exploration. There is a lot to discover and improve in this field and I feel excited every single day to be a part of it.
Art of Aero is my medium of discovering this mysterious link and solidify my ideas and designs. I want to see what would happen if I tried to turn air into a design tool.
